#9sTakeover - Café Au Lait presents: The Importance of Online Radio

The monthly Balamii radio show Café Au Lait has been granted a four day takeover at the Nines in Peckham. As part of our takeover of the Nines, we’re putting together a series of talks on a number of key topics within the music industry at the moment. 

This talk aims to highlight the rise of online radio in recent years and how it has allowed for:

- Radio to become more accessible to young people
- New opportunities within music
- Provided more avenues into the industry
- Changed the way we listen to music

Joining us for our panel talk is:

Jyoty Singh (Boiler RoomRinse FM) - Jyoty heads up a weekly show on Rinse FM under her name as well as presenting Boiler Room parties across the globe. As if that wasn't enough, Jyoty also helps run Move Mag, a magazine dedicated to underground music, sub culture, and everything inbetween. Jyoty will be joining us to head up the panel.

Tim Garcia (Jazz FMMúsica Macondo) - Tim Garcia is the digital editor at Jazz FM and also features on Chris Philips' "The Blueprint show" on an almost bi-monthly basis. In addition to this Tim runs a musical platform called Musicá Macondo, exploring the sounds of Latin music, Jazz and Afrobeat from across the globe.

Marsha Smith (NTS Radio/Midnight Marauders) - Marsha has been presenting on NTS since the early days, previously presenting the morning show before switching to the midnight slot. We now invite her down to talk about presenting at one of, if not the most successful online radio station at the minute.

Sean O'Daly (BBC Radio 1BBC Radio 6 Music) - Sean O'Daly is a content producer for the BBC Radio 1 Essential mix as well as Gilles Peterson's show on 6Music. Previously helping run the ship over at Balamii Radio, Sean O'Daly has taken a step back and now presents his monthly show on the South London station.

Matt Barnett (Radar Radio) - Matt barnett is the studio manager at Radar Radio, overseeing the day to running of the studios and ensuring everything runs smoothly. He also presents his monthly show Room II Records deliving into the depths of Techno, Detroit House and Jungle.

Tash Campbell (Boko BokoWorldwide FM) - Tash is a resident at the afrobeat night Boko! Boko! as well as presenting shows on Worldwide FM and Radar Radio. In addition to this Tash works at the famous Sounds of the Universe record shop, and her previous tenures includes working forBBC Africa.
