BLACKSHIRTS: the 18b Testimony of Flora Poole, Spinner
(a rehearsed reading)

London, 1936
Unemployed cotton spinner Flora Poole comes to London in search of a better life. Frustrated by low wages, job insecurity and high rents, she finds an outlet for her anger in Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts, with promise of a new Great Britain.

Based on the testimony of women and young people detained under 18b anti-extremism legislation, this is the story of the rise fascism as told from the inside.
