Musical Fundraiser for Refugees

  • The NINES 133 Copeland Road London, England, SE15 3SN United Kingdom (map)

Join us for a special an evening of music, with talented musicians providing the songs and sounds to welcome in the Spring and raise money for Refugees in Greece.

This May, 70+ brave cyclists will be pedalling their way in a relay from London to Athens in 7 weeks to raise money for Khora, a small, proactive co-operative based in Athens, supported by Help Refugees. Khora is made up of volunteers from all over the world, the local Greek community and the refugee community and provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax. Until better, long-term political decisions are made by the EU to allow refugees to move on with their lives in a safe and happy way, it is essential that we support grassroots initiatives such as Khora.

Last year the ride raised over 50,000 Euros – we hope to beat that this year. So please join us to listen to some very special musical delights and support us in raising funds for Knora and the brilliant work they do.

Entry is £6 on the door but we’ll also be jingling buckets between acts so please bring any loose change that's been weighing you down.. :) ! All of the money fundraised goes directly to Khora.

Owl Parliament
With an entirely fresh new set, you're in for a treat. The choir’s repertoire is as wide as the eyes of the owls therein: Bulgarian Art songs, Gaelic Laments and Original Arrangements of Pop Classics by 10cc and newer artists such as Mariam The Believer.

INMIRIAM is a new project from Ellie Rose Rusbridge inspired by the biblical story of poet and prophetess Miriam. 'Inmiriam’s brand of post-pop is a joy to behold' Soaring vocals and swaying sythns' 'ethereal and lucid.. with lyrics that really pack the punch.'

The Broads (3/4!)
Three of the Broads from the Young female quartet will sing stories in close harmonies with a witty feminist take to a well-curated set of tales of impotence, greedy landlords, and the joys of a single life.

Please spread the word and we hope to see you there.
